Scholarship & Military Assistance Fund

Military Assistance and Scholarship Fund (501c3 Organization)

The Green Valley MOAA Scholarship and Military Assistance Fund Inc.

The purpose of this 501(c)(3) charitable corporation is to solicit and accept donations of monies and merchandise and to engage in fund raising activities to provide scholarships to qualified high school students enrolled in Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) programs to enable the recipient to attend an accredited institution of higher education. We also provide grants to veterans enrolled in a University of Arizona undergraduate program. The Military Assistance portion is to provide assistance to military service members, military veterans, and their families who are in distress and in need.

An example of this assistance is our Food for the Troops and Turkeys for the Troops programs. Food for the Troops collects nonperishable food items and monetary donations to purchase foods as well as other grocery items  to support lower grade enlisted personnel from local reserve and National Guard units. In November we purchase gift cards from the Davis-Monthan Commissary to allow the troops to purchase all the fixings needed for a festive Thanksgiving dinner.

Support of this program allows us to offer Scholarships to deserving Sahuarita, Walden Grove, and Rio Rico JROTC high school seniors who choose to continue their education at the college level, as well as provide funds for deserving veteran students attending the University of Arizona. It may also be utilized to help our local service members, veterans, retirees, and/or their families in a time of need.

If you would like to help by contributing to this 100% tax-deductible effort please send a check or money order (made payable to GV MOAA Scholarship/Assistance Fund) to the Green Valley MOAA Chapter, PO Box 1535, Green Valley AZ 85622-1535. We will send you a return receipt for your records.
